GLUCOMANNAN
Glucomannan is primarily derived from the root of the konjac plant (Amorphophallus konjac). The process involves grinding the konjac root into a fine powder and then mixing it with water to form a gel-like substance. This mixture undergoes a series of purification steps to remove impurities and concentrate the glucomannan. The resulting product is dried to form a fine powder or formed into solid blocks.
Glucomannan is a natural exfoliant that is widely used in personal care products as a substitute for plastic microbeads. It can absorb up to ten times its weight in water and forms a gel-like substance that helps in hydration, gentle massage, and exfoliation. This prebiotic works like food for the skin which balances the skin’s microbe leading to a healthy, plump, and smooth-looking skin. Apart from moisturizing, Glucomannan also forms a film on the skin that prevents water loss. It is known to increase the stability and the shelf life of a product.
