Launch of Bio-fermented D-Panthenol

Cosphatec has unveiled two grades of D-Panthenol (provitamin B5) active ingredients, both of which are entirely natural in origin. Both ingredients are produced via bio-fermentation using non-GMO corn and comply with COSMOS and NATRUE standards. “Cosphaderm Panthenol natural 98” and “Cosphaderm Panthenol natural 75” are particularly well-suited for sustainable and vegan applications in skin, hair, and nail care products, offering moisturizing, soothing, and regenerating properties.

Cosphaderm Panthenol natural 98 is a highly concentrated, viscous material containing 98% active ingredient. Cosphaderm Panthenol natural 75 contains 75% panthenol dissolved in water, presenting as a clear, low-viscosity solution. Thanks to its pre-diluted form, this ingredient is easily incorporated into water-based formulations. Both products are designed to enable the use of panthenol across a wide range of natural cosmetic formulations. Depending on the specific formulation, a concentration of 0.1% to 5% is recommended.

In the skin, panthenol converts into pantothenic acid—a vital component of cellular metabolism involved in skin regeneration and repair. It strengthens the skin’s barrier function and helps maintain skin moisture. It also possesses anti-inflammatory properties and soothes inflamed or irritated skin. Consequently, panthenol is used in products for inflamed or stressed skin, as well as in after-sun and baby skincare products. Furthermore, panthenol can strengthen hair, reduce breakage, and enhance shine and manageability. It also penetrates the nail plate, where its moisturizing properties improve nail flexibility and strength.
