The goal of a morning skincare routine is to protect your skin from sun damage and help you look fresh and clean. It typically includes basic products like cleanser, sunscreen, moisturizer, and toner.
1.1. Cleanser
Start your day with a cleanser or face wash that suits your skin type. Cleansing removes dirt and dead skin cells, preparing your skin for the next steps. Use cold or lukewarm water to wash your face. Gently apply the cleanser in circular motions. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry with a soft towel.
1.2. Toner
Toner is the second step in your morning routine. Toners enriched with antioxidants or essential vitamins are highly beneficial. After cleansing, your skin is ready to absorb active ingredients. Toners are lightweight and penetrate deeply, nourishing the skin and balancing its pH. Choose a toner suitable for your skin type and avoid alcohol-based formulas. While toner is not mandatory after cleansing, the cleanser-toner combo can be a great choice for effective skin purification.
1.3. Moisturizer
Moisturizing is the most important part of any skincare routine, regardless of skin type. Hydration is always a good idea. If you have oily or combination skin, use gel or water-based moisturizers to avoid clogged pores and acne. For dry skin, opt for heavier moisturizers like shea butter, cocoa butter, mango butter, or oil-based products. Apply moisturizer immediately after cleansing on slightly damp skin to lock in moisture.

Sun damage during the day is a major concern. Preparing your skin to protect it from harmful UV rays is essential. Use sunscreens with appropriate SPF to shield your skin effectively.
- Night Routine
During sleep, your skin has the most time to repair itself as your body rests. So, take your nighttime routine seriously.
2.1. Cleanser
To relieve stress and fatigue from the day, your skin needs deep rejuvenation. If you wore makeup, start with a makeup remover. Then use a gentle cleanser to remove surface impurities.
2.2. Treatment Products
After cleansing, apply your treatment product. This could be an acne control serum, dark spot cream, face oil, peel-off mask, or any product targeting a specific skin concern.
2.3. Eye Cream
Eye creams containing antioxidants and vitamin E help improve the appearance of the under-eye area. They can reduce dark circles, puffiness, wrinkles, and fine lines. Apply a small amount of cream or gel to the under-eye area.
2.4. Moisturizer
You can use the same moisturizer as in your morning routine or switch to a night cream. Night creams are usually thicker and stay on the skin longer to support repair processes.

3.1. Exfoliation
Exfoliating helps remove dead skin cells. Do it once a week right after cleansing. It makes your skin smoother and brighter, cleanses pores, and reduces the risk of acne. After exfoliation, you can apply serum, moisturizer, or eye cream.

Face masks are designed for occasional use. Choose a mask based on your skin type and concerns. Some masks are suitable for once-a-week use, while others can be used up to three times a week. Clean your face before applying a mask. You can also use a mask after exfoliation. Follow the product instructions for duration and removal. While most of our focus is on the face, the rest of the body also needs attention. These simple steps help you care for your body’s skin:
4.1. Cleanse
Cleansing is the first step in body care too. Use a gentle body wash or shower gel to cleanse your skin daily.
4.2. Exfoliate
Choose a body scrub suitable for your skin type and exfoliate your entire body once a week. This removes dead skin cells and smooths the skin. If scrubs aren’t comfortable for you, opt for products containing AHA and BHA (alpha and beta hydroxy acids), which also improve skin texture.
4.3. Treatment Products
Just like facial skin, your body may experience skin issues that require treatment. Vitamin C body serums, creams with retinoids, or antioxidant serums can be part of your body care routine.
4.4. Moisturize
The third step in body care is moisturizing. Body skin needs heavier moisturizers than facial products. Use body butter if you have dry skin. For acne-prone skin, stick to lightweight lotions. Choose products with hyaluronic acid and ceramides to lock in moisture.
4.5. Sunscreen
Finish your daily body care routine with sunscreen on exposed areas, especially if you’re going out in direct sunlight. Use waterproof sunscreen if you’re going swimming.
