DIHYDROGENATED TALLOWAMIDOETHYL HYDROXYETHYLMONIUM METHOSULFATE
Esterquat is a cationic surfactant that is formed by the reaction between methyl esters of fatty acids with an alkanol amin (tri-ethanol amine) and then converted into quaternary ammonium dimethyl sulfate.
Dihydrogenated Tallowamidoethyl Hydroxyethylmonium Methosulfate (DHTMH or DHTAEM) is the quaternary ammonium compound that conforms generally to the formula, where RCO- represents the acyl groups derived from hydrogenated tallow.
Dihydrogenated tallowamidoethyl hydroxyethylmonium methosulfate is used in cosmetic & detergent formulations. The substance acts as an antistatic agent (reduces static electricity by neutralizing the electric charge on the surface) and hair conditioning agent (makes the hair easy to comb, smooth, soft and shiny and gives it volume).
