Dihydrogenated tallowamidoethyl hydroxyethylmonium methosulfate
Dihydrogenated tallowamidoethyl hydroxyethylmonium methosulfate is a quaternary ammonium compound used in products like fabric softeners and hair conditioners as a conditioning and antistatic agent. It is derived from hydrogenated tallow, a substance often from animal fat.
It is a cationic surfactant commercially named “Esterquat”. It is ideally suited for the formulation of household and industrial fabric softeners from 3% viscous to 25% fluid active concentrations.
Dihydrogenated tallowamidoethyl hydroxyethylmonium methosulfate is used in cosmetic formulations. The substance acts as an antistatic agent (reduces static electricity by neutralizing the electric charge on the surface) and hair conditioning agent (makes the hair easy to comb, smooth, soft and shiny and gives it volume).
