METHYLCHLOROISOTHIAZOLINONE & Methylisothiazolinone (CMIT&MIT)
The mixture of 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one (CMIT) and 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one (MIT), is a widely used broad-spectrum biocide and preservative (typically 3:1 ratio) for rinse-off cosmetics, and detergents. While highly effective against bacteria and fungi, this compound acts as a significant skin sensitizer and allergen.
Due to the risk of allergic contact dermatitis, its use is heavily restricted in leave-on cosmetic products.
magnesium chloride and magnesium nitrate mostly use as a stabilizing agents.
