SkinCare Simplified – A Parent’s Guide

As skincare trends become increasingly popular among children and teens (8-14 years old), many parents and caregivers find themselves navigating a rapidly changing landscape of advice, products and social pressures. Talking about skincare with their children has now become a regular occurrence for 85% of parents, with almost a third discussing it several times a week. CTPA has teamed up with dermatologists to develop a guide to support families by providing clear information and answers to the most common questions.
The CTPA campaign aims to empower parents to guide their children, building knowledge and confidence on how to care for their skin in an age-appropriate way.
The guide is now available on CTPA’s consumer website – The Skincare Guide Made Simple – A Parent’s Guide.

The guide includes several sections that address the most common questions asked by parents, including general advice on skin care for young people in different age groups, questions about common skin problems, and information on ingredients and labeling.
As the voice of the cosmetics and personal care industry, CTPA clearly reiterates its position that anti-aging products or complex procedures should not be used on young people’s skin because they are not designed for this purpose.
As a key piece of advice, the “Simplified Skin Care Guide – A Parent’s Guide” recommends keeping skin care for young people simple:
– Gentle cleansing: Wash your face, or use a cleanser suitable for children or family use if needed to keep skin clean.
– Moisturizing: Use a light moisturizer to keep skin moisturized as needed.
– Sun protection: Protect skin from sun exposure when necessary, including using a sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30 and UVA protection
