Ingredients in the cosmetic industry are divided into three categories in terms of use in products:
1- They are allowed to be used in any amount
2- They have a limit on the amount in different products
3- They are not allowed to be used.
However, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) identifies a group of substances as SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern), which may have serious and irreversible effects on human health and the environment.
So far, 247 substances have been introduced in the SVHC group. Of course, including a substance in the candidate list does not mean banning its use, but in the short term it creates a series of obligations for production, import and distribution, and in the long term it may lead to the adoption of restrictive measures.
