Dimethicone

Dimethicone (polydimethylsiloxane)(PDMS) is a silicone-based polymer with diverse applications, acting as a skin and hair conditioner, skin protectant, and anti-foaming agent in various products like moisturizers, shampoos, and over-the-counter medications for head lice and gas relief. Derived from silica, dimethicone forms a breathable barrier to prevent moisture loss, enhances product texture, and is recognized as non-comedogenic and generally safe for sensitive skin.

PDMS coatings are utilized in household products, such as furniture polishes, glass cleaners, and surface protectants, to provide water repellency and gloss enhancement.
